NAWN maintains owner-scoped ownership records for registered animals. Records can include a NAWN review status and an audit history that shows important changes. They are intended to help with veterinary care, housing verification, travel documentation, and ownership transfers.

Your animal's registration gives you a record you can update as care and ownership details change. NAWN records review activity and important changes within the registry. The accuracy and legal effect of a record depend on the information provided and the relevant jurisdiction.

For rescues, fosters, and owners: clear ownership records support adoption processes, rehoming transparency, foster placement tracking, and continuity of care across multiple homes and caretakers.

When an ownership transfer is initiated, both parties must authenticate. The current owner initiates, and the receiving party must sign in and accept. This helps make every transfer intentional and documented for the animal's record.

Our review team records ownership claims before they are added to the registry. We keep an audit history of transfers, credential changes, and administrative actions. Fraudulent representation is taken seriously, and we review reported concerns to help protect the database and community.

NAWN keeps your private registry files separate from public recovery cards. Your animal's medical history, your contact details, emergency contacts, and private notes stay in your personal, owner-only records.

When you mark an animal as lost, we only share what you choose to make public and what helps a safe reunion: optional name, optional photo, species, helpful traits, city-level last-seen location, and safe contact instructions.

Public lookup requires an exact registry ID or microchip number. There is no browseable national list of all lost animals.

You sign in through platform authentication. Animal records, medical notes, emergency contacts, and lost reports can only be viewed and edited by the current owner.

Ownership transfers only complete after the person receiving the animal signs in and accepts. Until then, nothing changes.

Organization verification applications are visible only to the person who submitted them. Approval is done manually by our review team.

Never shown publicly: your name, email, phone, emergency contacts, private notes, street address, full medical history, or detailed vaccination schedules.

May appear only when you mark an animal as lost and choose to share: animal name, photo, species, breed, markings, helpful traits, last-seen city, and safe instructions for a finder.

When someone finds an animal, our contact relay lets them message you without seeing your private information. They need to leave their own contact details so you can reply.

Rescue and vet applications ask for organization details, location, and supporting references or documents.

Every application stays pending until a person on our team reviews it. We do not automatically approve organizations based on external databases alone.

A pending or approved status shows that your application has been reviewed within NAWN. It is not a government license, clinical accreditation, legal endorsement, or promise of care quality.

Registry information exists to support identification, ongoing care, and safe reunions. You can update or remove records you own using the tools in your registry.

We keep a private history of important actions like ownership changes so those moments remain clear and reviewable.

Backup and storage follow platform practices intended to support data protection.

NAWN is built to be usable with a keyboard, screen reader, and other assistive tools — with clear focus states, meaningful landmarks, and readable contrast in our warm, animal-centric design.

If you notice suspected account misuse, false organization claims, misuse of recovery pages, or a possible exposure of private information, please contact our support team with dates, registry IDs, and screenshots when it is safe to do so.

Please do not use recovery pages to harass families or finders. Misuse of private contact tools may lead to restricted access to protect community safety.

NAWN is not an emergency dispatch service, poison control line, law-enforcement system, or veterinary hospital.

If an animal or person is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services, animal control, or a licensed veterinarian first. Use NAWN alongside that help for identification when it is safe to do so.

NAWN is a for-profit animal asset registry and a national animal welfare and safety platform. We provide owner-scoped registration, recovery tools, service-animal resources, foster program support, and community connections for owners, rescues, fosters, and handlers.

NAWN is not a government agency, law-enforcement system, or court. Our registration certificates are NAWN records, not government-issued documents. They may help owners organize information for housing, travel, veterinary, and care situations, but final legal determinations rest with the relevant jurisdiction.
